The successful candidate will be an outstanding scholar of international standing, a senior scholar who will enhance one or more of our research strengths in systematic and historical theology, church history (including world Christianities), HB/ancient Judaism, NT/early Christianity, theology & arts, and/or politics & religion.

The post holder will be expected to have a range of interests which enhance those already within the School, and to make an outstanding contribution to the field’s advancement through research outputs and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to prominently represent the University of St Andrews in the UK and international communities.

Candidates will hold a doctorate in a cognate discipline and will be expected to be capable of teaching their subject to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds. The primary criteria for appointment will be evidence of an internationally recognised record of outstanding research, and a clear programme of anticipated research activity for the coming years.
