Process to Join CBA
To apply for or upgrade Membership in CBA :
Step 1. Review the Membership Categories below. [Note Sustaining Members click HERE.]
Step 2. Choose the category appropriate to you. Click on Membership On-line Application, complete, and submit. N.B. Unless you are upgrading your membership, all candidates must be sponsored by a Full Member of the Association. Those upgrading their membership must submit a current CV to the Executive Director.
Step 3, Request that your sponsor email the CBA Office at cba-office@cua.edu, endorsing your application.
Step 4. Candidates are voted on during the Business Session of the Annual General Meeting (AMG).
In the Spring, candidates will receive notification that their online record has been created. Later, an email invitation to attend the Annual General Meeting will be sent to all candidates.
Step 5. In August, the new members approved at the AGM will receive an e-mail with their membership status and instructions on how to complete their member profile on the CBA website.
Step 6. In October, dues notices emailed for the next year's membership dues. New members have access to CBQ online once the membership status email has been sent. New members (other than Graduate Student) will receive the October issue of The Catholic Biblical Quarterly gratis.
Applications and sponsor notifications (Steps #2 & #3) must be received by the CBA Office at least one month before the next International Meeting of the CBA. Applications are evaluated by the Committee on Membership and eligible candidates are elected to membership at the Business Meeting during the Annual General Meeting. - All memberships dues (and the subscription to CBQ) are for the calendar year with the exception of Sustaining memberships which are annual based upon the join date and begin receiving CBQ with the next issue published.
- Reminder! Sustaining Members are not voted on but join directly through the website here.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
FULL MEMBER
Qualification Criteria: Those who have an advanced research degree in Sacred Scripture or biblical theology, including the Ph.D., Th.D., S.T.D., S.S.L., or S.S.D.
Member Benefits:

- Access to CBQ-Online
- Discount on CBQ Monograph Series andCBQ Imprints
- Attendance (voting) at the CBA Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Eligibility to apply for Grants and Visting Professorships
- Ability to present papers at the CBA AGM
- Ability to serve on CBA committees
- Sponsor prospective new members
Candidates for Full Membership must be formally sponsored by a Full Member of the Association, unless they are already a Graduate Student Member or Associate Member. Sponsors are to send an email to cba-office@cua.edu, notifying the Committee on Membership that the candidate's application is being endorsed.
Candidates for membership (received before the deadline) will be presented for vote at the next annual general meeting of the Association.
Dues, once approved during the next International Meeting of the CBA, are $50

ASSOCIATE MEMBER
Qualification Criteria: Those who are engaged in or have completed post-baccalaureate studies in biblical or allied fields or have taught Sacred Scripture for at least one year at the major-seminary or college level.
Member Benefits:

- Access to CBQ-Online
- Discount on the CBQ Monograph Series and CBQ Imprints.
- Attendance (non-voting) at the CBA Annual General Meeting.
Candidates for Associate Membership must be formally sponsored by a Full Member of the Association, unless they are already a Graduate Student Member. Sponsors are to send an email to cba-office@cua.edu, notifying the Committee on Membership that the candidate's application is being endorsed.
Candidates for membership (received before the deadline) will be presented for vote at the next annual general meeting of the Association.
Dues, once approved during the next International Meeting of the CBA, are $50

GRADUATE STUDENT MEMBER
Qualification Criteria: Those who are engaged in post-baccalaureate studies in biblical or allied fields.
Member Benefits:
- Access to the online edition of The Catholic Biblical Quarterly (CBQ)
- Discount on the CBQ Monograph Series and CBQ Imprints..
- Attendance (non-voting) at the CBA Annual General Meeting.
- Ability to apply for Travel Grants to the AGM.

- Application for Graduate Student only has to be completed once.
Candidates for Graduate Student Membership must be formally sponsored by a Full Member of the Association. Sponsors are to send an email to cba-office@cua.edu, notifying the Committee on Membership that the candidate's application is being endorsed.
Candidates for membership (received before the deadline) will be presented for vote at the next annual general meeting of the Association.
Dues, once approved during the next International Meeting of the CBA, are $10
Application for Graduate Student Membership: CLICK HERE
Once the degree is conferred, Graduate Student Members need to apply for Associate or Full membership.
UPGRADING MEMBERSHIP
Qualification Criteria: You already are a Sustaining, Associate, or Graduate Student Member of CBA and desire to upgrade your membership. No sponsorship is required, but you will need to send your CV to the Executive Director.

SUSTAINING MEMBER
Qualification Criteria: Those individuals (not Institutions) who pay the annual membership dues but are not eligible to be a Full Member, Associate Member, or Graduate Student Member.
Member Benefits:
- Annual subscription to The Catholic Biblical Quarterly (CBQ), beginning with the next issue published after
joining the Association. - Access to CBQ-Online
- Discount on CBQ Monograph Series and CBQ Imprints.
- Dues: $50 (paid at time of application)
Sustaining Members are not voted in but can join directly through this website. N.B. Sustaining members are neither listed in the Member Directory nor invited to the annual general meeting.
To become a Sustaining Member:
- You will need to fill out ONLY your Name, Email , Billing Address, and Shipping Address on the form accessed through THIS LINK.
- HELPFUL HINTS;
- Click on the "No Institution" button under the Last Name field.
- Scroll past "Specializations" and "Profile Information" to arrive at Email, Billing Address, and Shipping Address fields. (Sustaining members ae not listed in the Member Directory).
- If your Billing Address and Shipping Address are identical, complete your billing address, and click on "Copy Billing Address" next to "Shipping Address" and the fields will be automatically filled in.
LIFETIME MEMBERSHIPS
HONORARY LIFE MEMBER
Scholars noteworthy for their contributions to biblical studies may also be elected as Honorary Life Members. Any Full Member can propose a name for Honorary Life Membership which must be approved by the Executive Board and voted on in the Business Meeting. They shall enjoy the privileges accorded to Associate Members unless they were previously a Full Member of the Association and therefor retain their voting rights.

Nomination Process: Full members wishing to nominate someone for an Honorary Life Membership should- write a letter addressed to the CBA Executive Board Chair, stating why the person is deserving of the status

LIFE MEMBER
Full Members who make a contribution of $10,000 to the CBA may be designated by the authority of the President as Life Members.
