NT Lecturer in New Testament, Gender, and the Arts

You will contribute to a department that has a long and distinguished tradition of contribution to Biblical Studies and is known for its excellence in the integrated study of Theology, Religious Studies and the Arts. You will have expertise in teaching and research in New Testament and intersections with gender and the arts (and possibly material culture) plus appropriate languages. You will play an active role in the administration of the department, and will be research active.
The role consists of 40% teaching, 40% research, 20% administration. Appropriate support and training will be provided in the context of a supportive department and faculty.
This post will be offered on a full-time, indefinite contract.
Essential criteria
- A PhD in Theology, Religious Studies, Biblical Studies or another relevant discipline/s
- An inclusive approach to engagement with different disciplinary approaches and theological and religious traditions
- Ability to teach New Testament, gender and the arts at undergraduate and MA level, and to make the Bible relevant for students who may have no prior knowledge or interest
- Ability to teach New Testament Greek at BA and MA levels and to supervise PhD study
- A developed area of research, and progress in achieving quality original research publications commensurate with career stage.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and networking skills, ability to be a champion and advocate for TRS
- Collaborative spirit and ability to work with others in a collegial and supportive manner
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills, able to deliver projects in a creative and timely manner
Desirable criteria
- Interest or expertise in material culture
- Some experience of multi- and interdisciplinary collaboration, including one or more of ethics, the arts or digital humanities.
