In Memoriam: Terence S. Keegan, O.P.

CBA mourns the passing of Rev. Terence Stephen Keegan, O.P., S.T.M., 85, who died on Sunday, August 11, 2024. A member of the association since 1970, Terence hosted the
77th International Meeting of the CBA at Providence College in 2014.

Though he began his academic career as a mathematician receiving a Brown University Mathematics Fellowship in 1960-1961, Terence's interests soon moved Scripture, In 1965, he earned an M.A. in biblical Greek from St. Stephen's College, Dover, MA, From 1965-68, Terence studied Semitic languages at The Catholic University of America and in 1969 received an S.T.L. from the Dominican House of Studies. The next five years saw Terence studying Scripture and theology at the Pontifical Biblical Institute (S.S.L. 1972), at École biblique (1972-73), and at the Angelicum (S.T.D. 1974).

Terence's teaching career spanned over forty years,  including OT at St. Stephen's College (1969-70), NT and Greek at Dominican House of Studies (1974-75); NT morality at Mount Saint Mary's Seminary, Emmitsburg (1974-75), and biblical studies at Providence College where he achieved the rank of full Professor in 1974.
