The Religious Studies Department at Notre Dame of Maryland University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track appointment as a visiting assistant professor in Systematic Theology. The ability to teach Biblical Studies courses is highly desirable. This position may be renewable.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of one year of teaching experience in undergraduate theology and religious studies, a PhD in hand by August of 2025, and a strong commitment to liberal arts education and to teaching undergraduates. The candidate will also value the Catholic intellectual tradition and honor the university’s mission in teaching, scholarship, and service.

A visiting assistant professor in this department will teach 7 courses (21 credits) per academic year in Systematics and Biblical Studies and may be asked to revise and update the curriculum in those areas, including creating new courses where appropriate. Some courses are taught entirely online. In addition to teaching, faculty are expected to be engaged in the life of the university through interaction and mentoring of students, to have a scholarly agenda, and to contribute to the university through service to other faculty and students.
